Book on responsible development data published
The 3-day Book Sprint on responsible development data that started on Monday was concluded last night, and the resulting book “Shooting your hard drive into space, and other ways to practise responsible development data” was published immediately and presented today at the Open Development Camp in Amsterdam.
The book was made available for download for free under a Creative Commons license by the engine room.
During the three days on a remote farm in the Dutch countryside, twelve contributors guided by Book Sprint facilitator Barbara Rühling developed the concept, the scope, and the structure, and then set out to write, revise, rewrite, and finalize the entire book. The last day included an inspired debate on the book title, cleaning up loose ends, and a final end-to-end review of the book. One of the participants contributed amazing illustrations, and the Book Sprint designers delivered the cover image and the book layout in real-time, so that everything came together at 8pm of Wednesday night, just in time for the book launch at the conference on Thursday.
